Nights are still pretty rough. It is so hard to get them settled, and with three babies you're pretty much guaranteed one (if not all) will be up and fussy. We think that gas pain is keeping them up, so yesterday we tried Mylicon drops and they seemed to help. They actually slept better last night. We have noticed that we have to wake them up for the 2:00 am feed, and they don't usually take the whole 4 oz. We aren't sure if that's because they are so exhausted from fussing or they are ready to stretch out the night feedings. We are going to ask at their next pediatrician appointment in a few weeks. Until then, Dave takes the first shift (11:00-2:00) so he can sleep a few hours before getting up for work. It's been very hard for him to go back, not only due to lack of sleep, but he misses the babies terribly.
I understood a long time ago that my triplets would generate a lot of curiosity and attention, but sometimes the comments and questions I get never cease to amaze me. It's a wonder I leave the house at all. Here are some doozies:
- are they all yours? (no I rented two)
- are they natural (this one is the most insulting, although I know what people mean. Seriously, as opposed to unnatural?)
- did you take fertility drugs/do IVF? (I know IVF is common, but are we really at a point in society where it's socially appropriate to ask this?!)
- were you surprised (you think?)
- you must have your hands full (don't all new parents?)
- do multiples run in your family (in a few years, but right now they pretty much sit still)
- God bless you (YES HE DID THANK YOU VERY MUCH!)
- did you get to pick two boys and a girl (this one was courtesy of a VERY innocently rude 21 year old waitress...I didn't know how to respond. She was just so ignorant I couldn't even get mad. She also asked how they all fit in my belly)
- better you than me (SERIOUSLY, I mean SERIOUSLY?!)
(above: Cameron)
They are getting so big-Cameron and Sophia have grown into 3 month clothing (in Carter's brand), and Evan is SO close to outgrowing the newborn size. They all pretty much fit in 0-3 months, but not every company has that size. The only frustrating part is each company fits so differently, so it's a gamble to buy new clothes.

People are morons, seriously! I do have to say that my favorite comment is asking if you got to pick 2 boys and a girl. REALLY??!!!
ReplyDeleteOn another note, Mylicon was the wonder drug in our house, hope it helps soothe their bellies! And here's to hoping you get the ok to stretch their feedings, dropping 2AM would be awesome!!
Those questions blew my mind! Of course your responses here on the blog make me roll! I hope you actually gave those answers, just to help educate...teacher and all....the ignorant populace! Miss you Trish!
