Things have been getting very interesting at the Moran household. Being the parents of 4 month old triplets is eventful enough, but add in two neurotic parents and it's the basis of a TLC show! The babies are doing phenomenally well, however the same could not be said for me and Dave. The past few weeks have been a merry-go-round of Googling, worrying, schedule adjusting, number crunching, and did I mention worrying? I know it's common for new parents to worry but something tells me Dave and I take it to a whole new level. So here's what's been going on...Dave and I have been adjusting the babies' schedules to allow them (and us) more sleep at night. They had been on a 10-2-6 feeding schedule since they came home from the hospital, but 10pm bedtime was just too late for them. We tried 7 pm, and that was a disaster (too early) and 9 pm was just as bad as 10 pm. So 8pm bedtime it is. Getting there was quite an adventure. Thank goodness Dave had a four day weekend to sort this all out. See the problem is, if you put them to bed earlier, you miss a feed. This isn't a problem if they eat more during the day to make up for it, but we're lucky if they take 5 oz at a time, and Dave and I worried this was not enough. According to all our Googling, the average 4 month old should be taking 24-32 oz a day, and most days they were eating 20-22 oz. See their growth has been so incredible up to this point we didn't want to jinx it. The answer seemed to be a 8-12-4 schedule. So the idea was we put them to bed at 8 pm, they'd wake up around 4 am, then back to sleep until 8 am. The babies had other ideas...believe it or not, they decided to sleep until 6am! Trust me I'm not complaining, but it threw off the whole schedule...and you know how I am about my schedule!!! After a few days of trial and error (more error than trial) I think we've finally got it right. So today they had a 4 oz "snack" at 6 am, took a nap, had another 4.5 oz at 9 am, took another nap, then had a hearty lunch at noon. Cameron gulped down 7 oz!!!! I am now "blogging on eggshells" while they nap next door.Napping has been a whole other adventure. For a while I had just been letting them nap in their bouncy seats down in the living room with me. After weeks of watching them cat nap and fuss I realized they needed more structured naps throughout the day, so I started putting them down in their room. This has helped, but each baby has a different idea of what "napping" entails. Evan likes to cat nap, Cameron conks out until I wake him up, and Sophia loves her beauty sleep but is a pain to get down. I continue to learn as I go, and just pray I don't screw up too badly! We went on another adventure this week...apple picking! Buell's Orchard in Eastford (where I teach) had a fall festival this past weekend, so we decided to rally the troops and brave it. Amazingly enough, the babies were awake to enjoy it, and made it a whole hour before they fussed! The orchard trails were not exactly stroller friendly, so mom and dad got one heck of a work out!
Apples of my Eye!

Ready or not...

This is fun!

Grammy Denier found us this swing on Craigslist...we love it and don't know how we lived this long without it!!!!

I have a mobile hanging in the pack n play...they love it and "talk" to it all the time!
Trish, I had that exact same swing for both of my kids and wouldn't have survived without it!!!My friend even bought it from me after Henry exceeded the 20 lb. weight limit at 4 months (yup, no typo there! we used to call him "chunk-a-monk"). You're doing great:) xoxo Kate
