More Adventures in Parenting

So we've been getting braver...trying to let go of some of the anxiety that comes with not only being new parents, but new parents of triplets. Last Sunday we enjoyed a lovely day with my Eastford Elementary friends. My principal Linda hosted a get together at her beach house in Old Lyme to welcome the babies. It was so great to see everyone, and get the opportunity to interact with people who don't throw up on you after they smile. Packing up for the day out was not too bad, since Dave and I work pretty well as a team. The last all day outing was to Grammy's lake house, and I had to start packing for that about two hours before. This trip only took a few minutes the night before, then some quick back and forth the next day. The babies were a huge hit of course, and they had a great time basking in all the attention.

Tuesday Dave and I took the babies for a walk. They managed to sleep through most of it, but woke up once or twice to spit up or give us a look like "Where the heck are we?" Autumn is my favorite time of year, and I can't wait to take the kids apple and pumpkin picking. Halloween costumes are still up in the air...I am open to suggestions. I'd love to make their costumes, as my mother did for us growing up, but time is limited. I told myself when I was pregnant that I would never deny them any experiences a single child would have just because of the trouble it would be times three. I know now it just makes the adventure that much more fun!

Sophia is back to her normal self...thank goodness. The prune juice didn't work its magic, so I had to resort to good old glycerin (TMI alert). Now she is eating and pooping normally. Cameron started down the same path, so we are giving him an ounce of prune juice each day to help regulate his system and that seems to help. I never thought I'd be so excited to change poopie diapers...it's kind of pathetic.

Days go by relatively quickly now that Dave is back at work. Needless to say the babies keep me very busy, but I am having a blast. The only problem is now that they are awake and more playful during the day, my household duties have fallen WAY behind. We are living out of laundry baskets, and anything that falls on the floor must be sanitized right away out of fear that the bubonic plague may be lurking there. Don't even ask what we've been eating...our meals could be taken straight out of an elementary school cafeteria. Martha Stewart would flip a gasket.
